FAQs

  • At this time, Medicare does not provide you with a rebate for video consultations unless you are attending your regular GP face-to-face at least once per year.

There may be some rebates available from your private health insurer for allied health consultations and prescriptions depending on your policy’s extras cover.

  • Recent research shows that weight loss patients who engage in video consultations had a higher rate of weight loss and ability to stick to weight loss programs than those having face-to-face consultations.

Text-based support programs fared the worst!

  • For video consultations, we use Google Meet which can be used on any PC or mobile device with a microphone and camera.

You will also need a set of good quality digital scales.

  • No! In some cases, we may recommend diet shakes, but food restrictions and packaged food does not encourage long-term sustainable behavioural change. They also taste pretty ordinary and most people get sick of them.

  • We use a range of medications, the names of which we can’t publish online due to Australian law. We do believe some medications perform better than others, but we aim to use the medication best suited to the individual as a part of a comprehensive weight management plan.

We have the expertise to prescribe more than one medication at a time for weight loss. Obesity has many cause and some medications work well for some, but not for everyone. Our flexible approach is aimed to help you break those weight loss plateaus and achieve significant and sustainable weight loss.

  • No. Medication is only one part of weight loss management. Studies repeatedly show that while newer medications help, behavioural change, education and support will provide a person with a much better chance of success.

No other online program offers the level of expert support that we do!

We are not a “Gumtree” or a rapid script mill business whose whole business model is built around selling medications.

  • No. While some online sellers of diet medications offer compounding (where a pharmacists takes the raw ingredient and prepares bespoke preparations), both the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) and the FDA (Food & Drug Administration in the USA) warn about compounding diet medications in short supply as the safety and efficacy has not been established.

We will leave the compounding to the online, “click and flick”, prescribers whose business model is solely focused on selling you medications.

  • The program’s pricing will be explained during your free introduction consultation. Step 1, with intensive doctor and allied health involvement, is more expensive than Step 2, where 6M Life’s role is to reinforce what you’ve learnt in the first step.

  • Your first consultation is entirely complementary and will give you an in depth understanding of the program.

Assisting you in your sustainable weight loss journey is a commitment that our team makes to you and it requires that you make the same commitment to yourself. This is why we do not offer refunds for change of mind or lack of motivation, if you choose to commit to the program after your complementary first consultation.

Of course, we understand that unforeseeable circumstances may arise and it will be at the discretion of 6M Life to find a solution on an individual basis.
